The varsity guard is designated for advanced color guard students who must exhibit a high degree of skill in movement, rifle, sabre, and flag.
The varsity students are held to the highest performance standard for the Irmo Guard program as students on the varsity guard will compete both locally and regionally including circuit competitions and WGI competitons.
The varsity guard will do a full winter guard production. Auditions for the varsity winter guard occur at the end of marching band season, and results of the audition are final.

Each member is expected to pay $200 which will calculate to $50 per month plus participate in the spaghetti fundraiser. See calendar for due dates of payments.

Fundraiser: Each member is also expected to sell 5 tickets our spaghetti dinner. Students must sell the tickets or pay the difference. Tickets are $7.00 each totaling $35 for this event. Students are responsible for raising or paying this $35 as it helps to pay for staff fees, flag bags, and unforeseen incidental or miscellaneous stuff.
